In Chrome, I was only seeing 1–2 FPS. Verovatno zato radi ovako brzo koliko se sećam: Lucky je imao ~30fps u quaketu jos pre 11godina na svom game kompu najpopularniji quake2 klijenti r1q2/arpq2/q2pro na današnjim PC-ejima imaju ~2000-3000 FPS na bilo kom delu mape Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

voodoo_ Posted April 6, 2010 Author Report Share Posted April 6, 2010 Aman čoveče, nije ovde konkretno Kvejk u pitanju, niti će ovo iko da igra u multiplejeru :) Poenta je da kada svi browseri budu lepo podržavali HTML5, oni više neće morati da se oslanjaju na third-party plaginove kao što je Flash i Java da bi se izvele naprednije web aplikacije ili da bi puštali audio i video (ko što ti sad treba Flash plagin da bi mogao da vidiš bilo šta na Jutjubu). Odnosno, web aplikacje će se tada jako približiti "stonim" aplikacijama po mogućnostima. Konkretno, ako imaš iPhone ili iPad, ti ne možeš da instaliraš programe na njih kako ti hoćeš (bar ne na zaključanim verzijama) nego si vezan za App Store. Sa druge strane, ako ti direktno iz browsera možeš da pokrećeš složenije HTML5 aplikacije (koje, još jednom, rade bez instalacije, dakle ukucaš adresu u browser i vozi), ti si onda na konju. WebGL is an experimental technology to bring 3D to browsers using OpenGL ES, a cut-down version of OpenGL designed for embedded uses (The iPhone uses OpenGL ES 2.0 for its 3D API for example). Both Firefox and WebKit/Chrome nightlies currently support WebGL, but it may be some time before this technology reaches a release-ready state (the specification is still in flux, a draft was issued in December 2009). Considering that it was compiled from hardly ideal Java into JavaScript, it’s still impressive performance. If the game were written from scratch straight into JavaScript (or even better, using Native Client), I suspect that performance would be much better. Jel kaže nešto o ograničenjima konverzije, pošto pretpostavljam da neće moći sve baš tako lako da se prevodi 1 na 1?
